WHAT IS A SPLASH AND DASH?
A Splash and Dash, known as an aquathlon, is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. The run can take place on a trail, road or path. Similarly, the swim can take place in any body of water – for example a pool, reservoir, or ocean. USA Triathlon’s Youth Splash and Dash Aquathlon Series will feature a swim/run combination, however the most common aquathlon as athletes progress in age and level utilizes a run/swim/run combination.
The USA Triathlon Youth Splash and Dash Aquathlon Series is open to athletes ages 7-15. Events will take place in each of the 10 regions across the United States. The focus is on participation rather than competition. The series serves as an introduction to multisport and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
•Introduces and educates youth on the multisport lifestyle, all while being involved in a fun, exciting and safe atmosphere. It will really help you to “get your feet wet” in multisport.
•Engages youth athletes in pre-race and post-race activities such as vendor areas, clinics and additional educational opportunities.
•Creates an opportunity to meet friends and other youth athletes who are interested and also engage in the multisport lifestyle.
•Requires less equipment than a triathlon-no bike.
•All participants will receive a finisher medal and event T-shirt.
